There’s something about old-fashioned Southern comfort food that just hits the spot—and these Southern Fried Salmon Patties are no exception. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of rich, savory flavor, they’re easy to make and perfect for any night of the week.

Whether you grew up eating these or you’re trying them for the first time, this recipe brings back memories of home-cooked meals and family around the table. Let’s get straight to it.

🐟 Ingredients:

  • 1 (14.75 oz) can of pink salmon
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup finely diced onion
  • ¼ cup cornmeal
  • ¼ cup flour
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: a pinch of garlic powder or paprika
  • 1–2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional, for extra moisture)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

🍴 Instructions:

  1. Drain the salmon and remove the bones and skin (optional—some leave them in for extra calcium and texture).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the salmon, egg, onion, cornmeal, flour, and seasoning. If the mixture feels dry, stir in a spoonful of mayonnaise.
  3. Form into patties, about the size of your palm.
  4. Heat a few tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or a side of cornbread.
  • Drizzle with hot sauce or a squeeze of lemon for extra flavor.
  • Great the next day too—just reheat in a pan to bring back that crispy crust.

These patties are budget-friendly, easy to whip up, and sure to win hearts at the dinner table. Just like Mama used to make. 💛
